Welcome

With almost 1,200 students aged 11 to 18, Sheffield Park Academy is a busy, vibrant and exciting place to learn.  The colourful display of the more than 50 national flags of our students’ countries of origin in our main atrium illustrates the rich diversity of our student body.

As a United Learning school, we aim to bring out the best in everyone and nurture the core values of ambition, confidence, creativity, respect, enthusiasm and determination in all our students.  As part of the Group, our students work with their peers across the country giving them a broader range of experiences than we might be able to offer as a stand-alone school.

We have high expectations of our students and our sustained academic success has been recognised locally and nationally.  We are pleased to be amongst the top schools in the country for the progress our students make.  Our teachers, who are specialists in their subjects, deliver engaging, stimulating and interesting lessons which instil a lifelong love of learning in our students.

We also firmly believe, however, that there is more to a good education than excellent exam grades, which is why we are committed to providing an Education with Character.  To this end, in everything we do, we seek to hone key skills such as resilience, creativity, compassion and enterprise.  All of our students – whatever their interests or ability – have the opportunity to gain these important skills, which will enable them to lead successful adult lives.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming community.  We are always pleased to show prospective students and their families around the academy.  Please do get in touch if you are interested in finding out more about Sheffield Park Academy.

Vision

Sheffield Park Academy is a high performing 11 – 18 school with almost 1,200 students, including 150 in our dedicated Sixth Form.

Part of the United Learning group of schools and academies, we have seen real academic improvement over the last five years. Our sustained success places us at the top of Sheffield’s league tables and we have received local and national recognition, including ministerial praise, for our performance in Progress 8.  This is the government’s new measure for recording pupil progress from the end of primary school to the end of secondary school, for which we have been recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country.

Following an inspection in December 2022, Ofsted confirmed that the academy continues to be ‘Good’ and praised a range of its strengths:

  • "Leaders are ambitious for all pupils to achieve highly.”
  • "Pupils enjoy coming to this school. They feel at home in its respectful and kind culture..”
  • “This is a school where staff care for pupils and are determined that they will succeed.”
  • “Pupils are proud of the school. They behave well in lessons and around the school..”
  • "The extra-curricular opportunities that leaders provide to broaden pupils’ and students’ wider development are a strength of the school."
  • “Sixth-form students act as positive role models for younger pupils.”
  • “Students in the sixth form display mature attitudes and are confident and articulate."

As a thriving and ambitious academy, with a focus on continuous improvement, we are determined to deliver an ‘Outstanding’ education for every one of our students, providing the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Testimonials

"Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. I am more than happy with the education and support my child receives at Sheffield Park Academy and would recommend it to anybody."
Parent of current Y7 student

"I joined Sheffield Park Academy VI Form as an external candidate, the VI Form Team really helped me to adapt to the change and I settled in really quickly. Coming here is the best decision I’ve made."
MA – VI Form student

"I really enjoy it when we do practical work like experiments in science - I can see and feel what happens rather than just reading about it, this helps me learn.
ZA – Year 9 student

"At Sheffield Park Academy the teachers support you to reach your full potential and never give up on you."
TE– Year 9 student

"Being in Year 7 at Sheffield Park Academy is like being at the start of an amazing journey."
SH - Year 7 student

"I chose Sheffield Park Academy VI Form because the teachers believe in you even when you don’t believe in yourself. They push you to your best ability until you get the grades you need to chase your dreams."
PC – VI Form student

"I began my career as an NQT in the PE department 7 years ago and since then the Academy has provided me with endless CPD opportunities. For the last five years I have had the privilege of being a Head of Year. During this time I have also been the BTEC QN, an NQT mentor and have spent time as an Associate Senior Leader. The Academy has provided me with opportunities to improve both my teaching and professional development and strive to understand the needs of their staff."
LB - Head of Year

"I joined Sheffield Park Academy as I was looking for somewhere to develop professionally. I particularly enjoy the challenge provided by the pupils and the opportunities the school are giving me to develop my career. I am looking forward to my upcoming CPD, where I get to work with another head of MFL in preparation for teaching KS5 next year."
LS – Teacher of Languages

"I began my life at Sheffield Park Academy (its predecessor) in 2002 as a Learning Mentor. In the past thirteen years my journey has taken me from pastoral support, exams administration and now via a GTP into teaching; more recently as the academic lead for KS5. I think it is rare to find somewhere, an institution, that shares your own vision to dedicate itself to its young people in the way that we do. We will not allow social and economic deprivation to affect the aspirations or achievements of our students. We work together. The future is even more exciting and it is this that drives and inspires me."
MS – KS5 Academic Leader
