Why choose us

As a thriving and ambitious academy, with a focus on continuous improvement, we are determined to deliver an excellent education for every one of our students.

We look to provide the support, nurture and challenge that they need to enjoy their learning, develop as individuals and, ultimately, to achieve their full academic potential.

An inclusive and welcoming learning environment for students of all faiths, backgrounds and abilities, we are committed to bringing out ‘the best in everyone’ – students, staff and the whole school community.

We have seen real academic improvement over the last five years. We have received local and national recognition for this, as well as ministerial praise for our performance in Progress 8, with our latest results giving us a scores meaning our students made more progress on average than pupils across England who got similar results at key stage 2 based on 2019 accountability measures.

Our VI Form also continues to go from strength to strength, with Summer 2018 seeing all our students going on to university, employment or apprenticeships and more and more students taking rigorous, academic A Levels.

As part of United Learning, our staff and students are also able to access a wider range of opportunities than any single school could offer. For students, this means local, regional and national involvement in a variety of academic, enrichment and sporting initiatives. For staff, this includes professional development, training and networking opportunities, ensuring that we continue to improve and innovate our classroom practice.

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what some of our students and stakeholders have said about us:

I was extremely well supported and received regular high-quality feedback form my mentor. I received high levels of support both in relation to teacher standards progress and emotionally.

Thank you so much to the teachers for keeping me going! I’m not sure what I would have done without them. VI Form has been amazing and I’ll never forget it.

Education with character

Whilst academic success is very important, at Sheffield Park Academy we believe that there is more to a good education.

As well as ensuring our students succeed in exams, we aim to develop character, compassion and service.  Throughout their time at Sheffield Park Academy, students are expected to contribute to our school community and to society.  We want students to try things they cannot do, to persist in the face of difficulty and to become resilient in overcoming obstacles.

With this in mind, we provide a breadth of opportunities and experiences which seek to help our students become confident, well-rounded and ambitious young adults.  Our curriculum and enrichment programme is overflowing with opportunities to try something new and develop new skills.  In addition to our very wide range of extracurricular clubs, our students enjoy trips, university visits, talks from inspirational speakers from the worlds of medicine, law and business as well as countless opportunities to collaborate with their peers at United Learning schools across the country.

We are incredibly proud to deliver an Education with Character; an education which challenges, inspires and excites our students and prepares them for the ups and downs of life.
