Special Educational Needs
At our school, we are committed to ensuring that all students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), are fully supported to succeed both academically and personally. Our approach is grounded in our core values of community, ambition, respect, and endurance, which shape the inclusive culture of our secondary setting – one community, one Park.
We foster a strong sense of community, where every student feels safe, included, and valued as part of school life. We work in close partnership with families, external agencies, and staff to ensure that each student’s needs are understood and supported through a consistent and collaborative approach.
Through ambition, we maintain high expectations for all students with SEND, recognising that every young person has the potential to achieve and make progress. Our curriculum is carefully adapted to ensure accessibility, while promoting independence, preparing students for qualifications, further education, employment, and adulthood.
We promote respect by celebrating diversity and recognising the unique strengths and challenges of each individual. Our staff are skilled in delivering inclusive teaching within a busy secondary environment, ensuring that classrooms are supportive, engaging, and responsive to a wide range of needs.
We also develop endurance by supporting students to build resilience, confidence, and perseverance. Secondary school brings increased expectations and transitions, and we work closely with students to help them manage these demands, overcome barriers, and develop the skills they need for future success.
Our SEND provision follows a graduated approach, where support is carefully planned, regularly reviewed, and adapted to meet individual needs. This includes targeted interventions, in-class support, and access to specialist services. We are committed to ensuring that every student is able to engage in learning, participate fully in school life, and make meaningful progress during their time with us.
Our SEND provision includes:
- High‑quality, adaptive teaching in every classroom
- Targeted interventions based on assessed need
- Support from trained staff who understand a wide range of SEND needs
- Close collaboration with external agencies and professionals
- Regular reviews of support plans to monitor progress and adjust strategies
