Students Shine at the North Star Science Event

A group of Sheffield Park Academy students enjoyed a great day working alongside the UK Atomic Energy Authority this week at the North Star event.

The event hosted virtually by Professor Brian Cox who opened the day by delivering an inspiring speech to attendees was held at Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park Resort on 24th November.

Students assisted with delivering a workshop to around 20 different schools with the aim of explaining the importance of fusion energy and plasma. They did this by putting a range of different items into a microwave and seeing the effect it had on them. The best one was putting a crisp packet in and seeing it being reduced to the size of a 5p!

Students also enjoyed their television debuts when they were interviewed by a local news channel.
