Community Jubilee Celebration Event

It was wonderful to welcome back our much-loved Community Day to the calendar this year after previous events had been postponed due to social distancing measures.

Over 600 people, including students past and present, parents, community neighbours and staff came together on 21st May to celebrate, have fun and make memories.

The event, organised by Miss Preston (Extended Schools Coordinator) and Mrs Spittlehouse (Business Support Officer) included a whole host of free activities including live animal handling, giant inflatables, face painting, craft tables, live music, sport activities and much more! It also included a special nod to the Queen’s Jubilee with photo opportunities and decorations.

Students from several year groups showed great ambition and leadership in volunteering their time to help coordinate activities and were on hand to help guests navigate the attractions.

Miss Preston, Extended Schools Coordinator said: The event was so much fun, all of the hard work that went into planning it was so worthwhile and we were rewarded with some lovely comments and feedback from people who attended. It was especially nice to welcome back ex-pupils who are now grown up with their own families and future school community members such a primary children. Bringing our community together is a real honour and it was a pleasure to see people making new friends and sharing memories. I can’t wait to do it all again next year!

We would like to give special thanks to South Yorkshire Fire Service who attended to give live demonstrations, DESA (Darnall Education & Sports Academy) who delivered an exciting football tournament and the following companies who supported with prizes for the raffle: Your Franking, Pinders Schoolwear, Ideasbynet, N T Killingly and Worralls.

The event concluded with a prize giving session where the winners of the fancy dress and bunting competitions were announced, and the raffle was drawn with prizes given to the lucky recipients.

We are already in talks about the plans for next years event which we hope will be ever bigger and better. If you would like to be involved in the planning and organisation of the event, please get in touch with us info@sheffieldparkacademy.org
