This year has seen Sheffield Park Academy's most successful set of results ever, with the overwhelming majority of subject areas recording figures in excess of national averages. Our sustained success is testament to the relationships between our staff, pupils and their families, each one of them playing their part in ensuring that every pupil achieves their potential.
In the past, schools and academies have been judged on the number of students who attained 5 or GCSEs at grade A* - C. However, in the last couple of years, the government announced a change to the system, stating that it was more important to measure not just the students’ exam grades, but how much progress they had actually made. In support of this, the government has introduced a new system called Progress 8, which captures this progress by measuring the performance of students across a suite of 8 subjects (which must include English and Mathematics), highlighting how well a school or academy is actually performing.
Here at Sheffield Park Academy, we are very pleased to announce that under this new measure, out of 3,672 schools across the country, we have been placed 9th. In Sheffield, we are 1st. Our Progress 8 score was 0.94, which means that every single student, on average, achieved nearly a full grade more than what was expected of them. This is an excellent result for our students, staff and everyone involved with the academy and one which we are all very proud of.
Attainment 8 was 52.22, which again means that on average, students achieved a grade B. The percentage of students achieving a C or above in Maths and English (Language and / or Literature) was 69% and the percentage of pupils who achieved the English Baccalaureate was 30%.
