Type: A-Level
Entry Requirements:
Prospective students will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 including English and Mathematics. It is desirable that applicants achieve a grade 6 in Mathematics.
Overview:
A-Level Mathematics equips you with the skills to understand and solve complex problems, develop logical reasoning, and model real-world situations using mathematics. From pure mathematical theory to applications in science, finance, and technology, this course challenges and inspires students to think critically and analytically.
Key Topics Include:
- Pure Mathematics: algebra, calculus, sequences, trigonometry, and proofs.
- Statistics: probability, data analysis, and interpreting real-world data.
- Mechanics: modelling physical situations with forces, motion, and energy.
You’ll develop the ability to analyse problems methodically, reason mathematically, and communicate solutions effectively. The course combines rigorous theory with practical problem-solving, preparing you for further study in mathematics, science, engineering, economics, and finance.
Assessment:
Three external examinations at the end of the course, testing both pure mathematics and applied skills in statistics and mechanics.
What students say:
Not only do I enjoy doing maths but it helps me to understand Chemistry and Biology.

It starts the same as GCSE but then new topics are introduced. I really like the fact that I know if the answer is right or wrong.
