BTEC Hospitality
The academy’s Year 10 and Year 11 BTEC Hospitality groups have had a busy start to the academic year, catering for and
serving at several major events.
First up was an afternoon tea party in support of Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning,’ with all
proceeds raised donated to the charity.
TheYear 6OpenDayalsobenefitted fromtheir skills, featuring foodanddrinkspreparedby the students, whoencouraged
visitors to taste samples of unusual fruits, guess the sugar content of a range of fizzy drinks and have a go at creating
their own Sheffield Park Academy cupcake.
The BTEC students also showcased their culinary skills with Halloween themed food at the Annual dance show, with
proceeds being donated to Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Events such as these are a vital part of the course, contributing towards student’s final examination grades and helping
them to gain experience serving customers and working as a team.
