Dress Down Day Raises Another Bundle
For Charity
Fantastic fundraiser Storm Burgess has smashed her target of raising £10,000 for animal
charities, after collecting another £1,000 plus thanks to a festive dress down day at the
Storm’s fundraising efforts have already earned her the International Fund for Animal
Welfare’s ‘Young Fundraiser of the Year Award,’ presented to her at the House of Lords in
October. In December, the Sheffield Cat Shelter and Morrisons threw a surprise party to
thank her for her efforts.
The festive period also saw the 11 year-old added to her total, thanks to the dress down
day held by her school which raised £1,126, with half the money going towards Storm’s
beloved animal charities and the other half donated to the Weston Park Hospital Cancer
Charity, which Sheffield Park Academy also supports.
Calling in to present Storm with a cheque for the £563 was none other than Father Christmas himself!
Executive Principal Craig Dillon said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Storm in her fundraising, as well as
supporting Weston Park, who do such an incredible job. A big thank you to everyone who took part and donated.”
Performing Arts show raises over £3000
for local cancer charity
Ticket sales from the academy’s latest production - a ‘Show of Two Halves’ -
generated £2,900, with even more raised from sealed collection buckets, as well
as donations from students and staff.
Representatives fromWeston Park Hospital Cancer Charity visited the academy
for a special presentation, which involved students from every year group who
performed in the show.
Craig Dillon, Executive Principal of Sheffield Park Academy, said:
“Weston Park is an incredibly important local charity and one that is very close to
all of our hearts here at Sheffield Park Academy. We’re delighted to be able to lend our
support and look forward to working with them in the future.”
