Year 7 student StormBurgesswas guest of honour at theHouseof Lords inOctoberwhen she travelled toWestminster
to receive a top fundraising award.
Darnall resident Stormhas turned her passion
for animals into action, raising thousands of
pounds for animal charities over the years,
with over £6,000 collected in just the last 18
months. Her ventures have included raffles,
cake sales and sponsored events, even
donating her own toys and pocket money.
In recognition of her amazing efforts, the 11
year-old was presented with the International
Fund for AnimalWelfare’s‘Young Fundraiser of
the Year Award’ at a special event held at the
House of Lords, hosted by Baroness Gale with
awards presented by television personality
Bill Oddie.
Another inspirational Sheffield Park Academy student is Year 11’s Sofia Sajid, winner of this year’s Inspiring Youth
Award. As part of her prize, Sofia went north of the border recently for a special trip to Edinburgh and a behind the
scenes tour of the Scottish Parliament.
Organised by South Yorkshire Police and a dedicated team of volunteers, the Inspiring Youth Award is open to
13 to 17 year olds, with the aim of helping them to build invaluable life skills, self-esteem and improve on their
education.
