Visit by Mr. Wilfried Steffen
Thursday 10th September saw a visit to the Academy by Mr Wilfried Steffen, President and Chief Executive of Daimler (UK), who toured the new facilities at both Park and Springs Academies and learned about the Business and Enterprise specialisms. Mr Steffen saw Year 9 students at work (coincidently they were working on a project about Mercedes-Benz, one of Daimler’s companies, when he arrived!) and was extremely impressed with their knowledge and industry. Later, he met Mrs. Kathy August (Director of School Improvement ULT), Mrs. Jane Delfino (Director of Innovation ULT) and Ms Bouclier (Director of Specialism at Sheffield Park Academy) to discuss areas in which we can work in partnership with Daimler in the future.
Master Cutler Challenge Competition for Engineering Innovation: Cutler Galz (a group of 4 Y8 girls) won the over all competition with their fantastic candle holder. The partner company Chimo Holdings sent 2 of its staff to work with our students. They thoroughly enjoyed it and were impressed by the designs and creativity of our children. They will be helping this group set up a business by helping with the production of the product and the selling of it. The Master Cutler himself will have the design displayed in one of the cabinets in the Cutler’s Hall for a year. Silver Shapers (a group of 4 Y8 boys) won at the same competition “Best use of metal”.
