Dance Show - Students wow the audience!

On Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th December Sheffield Park Academy presented its annual Dance show, this year the show was entitled ‘Canned Heat in my Heels.’

The show is part of the Academy’s extensive Performing Arts programme which encourages students to develop their skills through Dance, Drama and Music.  Both shows were a sell out and were watched by an audience of over 325 people – this included parents, students (past and present), Governors, friends of the Academy and our local community.

Students from Year 7 to VI Form performed a number of different styles of dance including Ballet, Contemporary, Tap and Street. A number of self choreographed pieces by our VI Form students were also included.

Several Local Primary Schools also took part in the performance, having regularly attended Sheffield Park Academy to learn the chorography and perfect the routine. They were wonderful on the night!

The Academy is very proud of its students and the achievements they make in the Arts. The Dance show is a testament of the talents that our students have and the achievements they can make outside of the classroom.

Several members of our Local Governing Body attended the performance and commented as follows:

“I'm very proud to have the link with the school both being a parent of a student there and being part of the school governor's I was truly bowled over with the talent that the school shown last night it was amazing and it was fabulous to see all styles of dance from tap, to ballet to freestyle and more.” Cathy Ross – Parent Governor

“Can I applaud all those young people and staff from Park Academy and the feeder schools from our area, whose production of Canned Heat in my Heels was a fantastic night of dance and entertainment.  I, like the rest of the audience of parents, families, staff and governors who attended these performances were bowled over by the enthusiasm and dedication of the young people from our area.” Cllr Terry Fox - Governor
