Learning Resource Centre

The Learning Resource Centre is at the cutting edge of state-of-the-art technology, with the introduction of Eclipse.net, the computerised library management system.

The centre is offering improved borrowing facilities and is continuing to increase resources available for both students and staff.

Learning Resource Centre Aims


Support the curriculum of the Academy and respond quickly to curriculum development.

Ensure a facility for student's independent study and to contribute to the development of the skills necessary to being an effective learner within school and throughout life.

Provide and encourage all children's educational and recreational reading.

Membership

Every student and member of staff at Sheffield Park Academy is a member of the Learning Resource Centre.

Each student or member of staff is responsible for the resources signed out in their names.

Lunchtime Activities

Monday - Friday

12:20pm - 1:05pm Computer Club & Homework Support

The Learning Resource Centre is open Monday to Friday at lunchtime for students to use computer facilities and get help and support with their homework.

Induction Lessons

The Learning Resource Centre is committed to providing library skills training for all students attending the Academy.

All Year 7 students are given an induction course. This consists of three lessons during Year 7.

Learning Resource Centre Computers

The Learning Resource Centre has a suite of 14 networked PCs for use during the day and out of Academy hours.

All PC's have access to the Internet and a full range of specialist software.
