Learning Resource Centre

The Learning resource centre aims to be:

  • A place where students come during the day to learn, work and be educated.
  • A place that can be used before school to prepare for the day, to finish something, to begin something, to be peaceful, to read, to play a board game.
  • A place to come after breakfast club.
  • A place where students can come at lunchtime, to meet friends, to use a computer, to finish work or research, to have a little peace and time alone, to be safe, to rest.
  • A place to come after school to complete some home work, to choose a book, to do some research, to enter competitions

There is a book search system, on all computers throughout the Academy - SearchStar which has been designed in such a way that readers can easily find categories, authors and titles they are looking for. Readers can also publish reviews of books they have read.

The LRC aims to offer a wide range of books, resources and services to all students and staff at the academy. Two other equally important goals are that we should make access to books easier and that reading for pleasure should become a common activity for everyone.
